Blog of the Week: The Style Sample

Check out another one of Cincinnati’s most stylish blogs, The Style Sample. I met Tamia for the first time at our most recent CWB meeting, and I must say, you can tell she has the credentials to be telling us all about what’s hot and what’s not from the first moment you see her. She’s one stylish blogger.

In her own words, here’s how she describes The Style Sample:

I’m Tamia, and this here is my blogazine. I’m a Libra with Scorpio rising (sexy!) and my turn-ons include:

  • Fashion/style/beauty. Obviously.
  • The interwebz. There’s so much to see and do online and I figure if I can Google it, it must be true.
  • Graphic design and, as of late, web design. Still trying to wrap my brain around CSS.
  • Brand identity
  • Digital marketing & new media strategy

The Style Sample is my attempt to combine all of the above and turn my interests/obsessions into something fun and productive…and maybe ham it up a little. Hope you enjoy!

In case you wanted get a jump on what to wear in Fall and Winter 2009, check out Tamia’s most recent post. And, if you’re looking for solid fashion advice, visit early and often!

Monetization and Affiliate Marketing (Meeting Recap)

Yesterday Cincinnati Women Bloggers hosted it’s monthly meeting at Bridge Worldwide downtown.  This month the topic was monetization and affiliate marketing and our presenter was Andrea of Mommy Snacks.

Andrea writes a frugal blog, that shares savings tips, coupons, etc. for a wide variety of stores. She’s been dabbling with affiliate marketing  for just over a year and shared her insights on the various programs, the terminology and more.

Among the things we learned:

  • There are a lot of sites out there offering a WIDE array of affiliate marketing opportunities. Andrea has a list on her blog, HERE.
  • If you look at the requirements for a particular affiliate marketing group and don’t quite make the cut, contact them directly. You may end up getting in if you are close.
  • Always remember to stay true to the voice of your blog!
  • Mom Bloggers Club has a great post on selling ads on your blog
  • There is a service called Swag Bucks that pays you to do searches!

Did you attend and do a recap on your blog? Click the Mister Linky image below and add a link :

Stay tuned, If you missed the meeting, never fear. We taped the entire session and will be posting it soon!

Thank you to everyone who attended and to Bridge Worldwide for sponsoring the event.  Stay tuned for details on next month’s meet up!

CWB Meeting – Parking / Building Info

Just a quick note for tomorrow’s meeting at Bridge Worldwide.

Please enter the building through the McFarland entrance. The building is secure, and this is where we will have someone stationed to let you in.  Parking should be available on Plum.  I put my PhotoShop skills to use to create this handy visual:

Cincinnati Twitter Database Goes Live

Last week Cincinnati Women Bloggers, in partnership with Cincinnati Social Media, put out a Tweet that they were compiling a Cincinnati Twitter database.  We asked for submissions and boy did you respond! With more than 350+ entries, the list is finally ready and can be viewed here.  If you missed our Tweets last week, the database includes a link to a form that will allow you to add your Twitter ID to the list.

Blog of the Week: Westside Foodie Wannabes

Hey Cincinnati! This week, give some love to the Westside and check out Westside Foodie Wannabes, the blog of two gals on a search for the next most delicious thing in Cincinnati. In their own words:

we’re just two girls born and bred on the westside who grew up loving high school football, church festivals, cheap beer, and, of course, food. we’re always looking for something new to taste, even if it’s not the most recent addition to the menu at price hill chili.
as is the genesis for many great friendships, we met through a mutual friend at a bar, circa 2000, and realized it was unbelievable we hadn’t met previously. we knew the same people, had hung out at the same places, probably passed each other a million times. we were (and are) each other’s kevin bacon. we both like to eat, drink, and eat some more. and, let’s be honest, drink some more, too.

I’d like to add — there ain’t nothing wrong with a good ‘ol BK Big Fish. So, check out the Westside Foodie Wannabes, but be forewarned…reading may make you hungry.

Twitter Roundup
